Academic test requirement
For first-year applicants in the 2020-21 admission cycle, Brown is now test optional.
Beginning with the Class of 2025, Brown will no longer recommend the submission of SAT Subject Tests. If submitted, Subject Tests will be considered as part of your application. Students who have not taken the Subject Tests will be at no disadvantage in Brown’s admission process.
Language test requirement
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam or 600 or above on the paper-based exam or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
