Due to ongoing standardized testing disruptions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Columbia is adopting a one year test-optional policy for first-year applicants to Columbia College or Columbia Engineering for the fall of 2021. Admitted Students Statistics: 1500 & 1560 SAT SCORE RANGE FOR MIDDLE 50% OF ADMITTED STUDENTS, EQUIVALENT TO 34 & 35 ON THE ACT (TESTING WAS REQUIRED FROM APPLICANTS IN 2019–2020 BUT IS OPTIONAL FOR APPLICANTS IN 2020–2021)

Language test requirement

If you meet one or more of the above criteria, you have fulfilled Columbia’s English Language Proficiency requirement. If you do not, you will need to take one of the following English Language Proficiency exams. 1. TOEFL: A minimum score of 600 (paper-based test) or 100 (Internet-based test) is necessary for admission to Columbia 2. IELTS: A minimum score of 7.0 is necessary for admission to Columbia. 3. DET (Duolingo English Test): A minimum score of 120 on the current DET (or 75 on the DET prior to July 2019) is necessary for admission to Columbia.
