Q&A

Q: Do you provide a free consultation?

A: Yes, I am happy to meet with students for a free 30-minute session and assessment to evaluate student needs and ensure the student feels comfortable with me.

Q: What is your experience?

A: I am a Columbia University FAO as well as former university academic advisor and instructor. I have been working with students for 15 years inside and outside of the university: counseling on college and graduate admissions to US and Chinese students, academic tutoring, and working with US high schools to develop college counseling and academic advising programs for Chinese students studying in the US. I also work with learning organizations to help develop curriculum for their students as well as professional learning and development sessions for their staff.

Q: What is your availability? Why do you do this work?

A: Along with working directly with learning organizations to support their education design needs, working with students is my full-time job. I meet with most international students abroad in their time zone’s after-school and evening hours, Monday through Friday. I am a professional counselor and absolutely love this work. I love helping young people pursue their dreams and teaching them useful life lessons along the way. My biggest reward is watching my students grow and succeed in the years after we’ve worked together.

Q: What services do you provide?

A: --I work with high school and college students on the full college application process, college essays, mock interviews, and/or profile assessments in support of undergraduate and graduate admissions. --I tutor high school and college students in subjects such as English, history, social sciences, and business. --I support education organizations with curriculum development, education program design, and instructional design. --I develop/conduct professional development opportunities for organizational staff. --I conduct presentations on US college admissions process to students, families, and organizations across the world.

Q: What is the best way for my student to work with you?

A: Reach out so we can explore your needs. No two students are alike. Accordingly, I deploy a highly individualized approach for each student.

Q: Do you offer reduced fee services?

A: Although I truly wish I could see all students at no cost, I must charge a fee to support my work. I do however retain a few spaces each year to help students with demonstrated financial need at reduced or zero cost.
